• Undergraduate studies in physics, chemistry and mathematics at the University of Copenhagen 9/1978 - 6/1983.
• Masters degree work 9/1983 - 11/1986 in theoretical high energy physics at the Niels Bohr Institute, Copenhagen, Denmark, supervised by Holger Bech Nielsen. Cand. Scient. degree 11/1986.
• Graduate studies at the Niels Bohr Institute, Roskilde, Denmark, from 10/1987. Thesis advisor Sven Bjørnholm.
• Ph.D. degree 4/1991 with the project title ’An Experimental Study of Electronic Shell Structure in Large Sodium Clusters’.
• Docent 5/2000 at the Physics Department, University of Jyväskylä, Finland.
